Nordisk Panorama director Katrine Kiilgaard steps down

As of 31 March 2015, managing director of Nordisk Panorama Katrine Kiilgaard has resigned her position. Associated with the organisation since 2000, Kiilgaard has been a key driver in its development over the years. She took the helm in 2011 when the organisation like many cultural organisations was faced with trying times. Kiilgaard worked with the board to come up with new models for Nordisk Panorama to ensure its future as the most important industry platform for the Nordic short and documentary film community.

During her term, Katrine Kiilgaard has restructured the organisation and it has found stability. The annual Nordisk Panorama event has settled in Malmö, Sweden, expanded with new market initiatives and seen an increase in both audience and industry attendance, securing the event continued support by the organisation’s main allies as well as from new partners.

Katrine Kiilgaard says: “We have reached our goal of giving Nordisk Panorama a new foundation and make it grow. I feel proud to leave a stronger and re-branded organisation behind me, and I am grateful for the incredibly dedicated team, who has worked hard with me reaching this goal. I will now be looking forward to seeking new challenges, as my term was coming to an end in early 2016, and this feels like the natural moment to pass the baton to a new director to conduct negotiations for the next period.”

Chairman of the Nordisk Panorama board, Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir, says: “Katrine Kiilgaard has done a splendid job for the organisation. In a changing media landscape, the Nordic co-operation is more important than ever and the board is pleased to have a sound platform for the continued collaboration. We will now move forward and find the right fit for a director to take the organisation into a new chapter. Nordisk Panorama has for almost three decades been at the forefront of securing a future for documentary and short films, and we are excited to take on the challenges facing documentary and short filmmakers.”

The board of Nordisk Panorama is currently calling for a new director across the Nordic countries in addition to a part time programmer for the 26th edition of the Nordisk Panorama Film Festival, taking place in September.
