50.000 Nordic sailors sailed for the Allied during World War II. Denmark and Norway were invaded and occupied by Hitler, Sweden was neutral. Nevertheless the greater part of the Scandinavian merchant fleets sailed for Great Britain in the start of the war and even for the USA. The war at sea was totally merciless. The film deals with the background of the Nordic seamen and their fates in the war and 40 sailors bear witness of surviving the unsurvivable.
