A woman from the Swedish city of Luleå, tired of city life, wanted to find one of God's forgotten places on the edge of the Earth. A friend in Russia told her about Chavanjga, a fishing village on the Kola Peninsula. She was told of hardy old women hunting wild animals and fishing in the open sea. But arriving in Chavanjga she found a beautiful, civilised village in a harmonious setting. She found fisherwomen with inner strength, optimism and humour. She felt free there. Everything was simple and natural. Like life itself.
