Art in the Forestland
Konst i skogslandet
In the summer of 2007 a seventh annual art exhibition took place in Parkalombolo, a little forest Sami village in northern Sweden, where the forests meet the treeless mountains. There, four cultures come together – forest Sami, mountain Sami, Finnish and Swedish. The film depicts artist Outi Pieski in her father's home village, Dalvadas in Finnish Lapland, and her visit to Parkalombolo. Outi meets reindeer herder Katarina Sevä. They are both, in separate ways, seeking their place in Sami culture.
