Ngat is Dead: Studying Mortuary Traditions

A Dutch anthropologist participates in mortuary ceremonies for his deceased adopted father on a small island in the South Pacific. The film shows how kin relations and mortuary traditions are negotiated and even changed and argues that participation gives privileged understanding of the process.
