Our hero, Swan, is not a man of the world. He is a very simple little man who is compelled to travel to the city in his old age to seek treatment for his rheumatism. He has never met more than the few hundred people who live in his village. The film begins as he arrives in the big city, full of anticipation. (The film is one of "Five Short Nordic Stories").
