Inughuit - The People of the Navel of the Earth is a close and charged meeting with the Inughuit of modern Thule, where Inughuit who intimately know their world full of contrasts, tell their own story. The film is set in an age of transition between past and future, a life style of mixtures and contrasts where history is in the making. Those born at the beginning of the 1950's or earlier grew up in peat houses without electricity. The old can still remember how they were christened and forbidden to practice their drum songs and spiritualist arts when the missionaries came.
