"Nowhere Land" is DDR. East Germany and it's history - which many seem to have forgotten! Ulf Peter Hallberg and Carl Slättne scatter light on the history of East Germany by showing the collisions between ordinary people and the DDR state. Within the film the two Swedish film makers, of different generations, present a wide panorama of the downfall of socialism, told through the various fates of five individuals: Walter Janka, Kurt Maetzig, Marianne Birthler, Barbara Köhler and Reinhard Jirgl.
