Tokyo Noise

A portrait of the city in the same tradition as Ruttman’s "Berlin - Symphonie einer Grosstadt" and Louis Malle’s film about Calcutta. The film tells a story that is both specific and universal. It is a voyage of discovery through the world’s largest city, meeting individuals who interpret the chaos individually. There is no moralising over the collapse of civilisation or the contradictions between traditional Japanese values and modern consumerism — this is Tokyo on its own terms.
