The story of Guggen, a young rat. Unlike other rats, Guggen doesn’t enjoy the sewer; he prefers to be outside, in the fresh air. Guggen's mom sends him on an expedition with his dad and his two friends Salt and Pepper, to search for the fabled cheese cellar. In their journey through the sewer, they meet giant spiders, alligators and mysterious cats. Guggen saves the life of his dad and his friends on several occasions.
