A film about Eigil Knuth (1903-96) from his early childhood until the foundation of the station at Cap Moltke in Eastern Peary Land in 1972. We follow him on his expedition to the Northerners' ruins in Western Greenland in 1932, and across the Ice Cap in 1936. We see him as a sculptor and as leader of the Gamma Expedition 1938-39. And finally on the great Peary Land Expedition in 1947-50, where his work as an archaeologist culminated.
