Ernst and Mother board a train headed out of town. They're on a small vacation. Mother locates their seats. Ernst goes outside the compartment into the passageway to look out the window. The train stops at a station. Ernst sees a waffle seller on the platform. He runs back to his compartment but Mother is gone. Ernst suddenly sees her on the platform and gets off the train to look for her.
