Life as a refugee in Finland at the turn of the millennium. There are conflicts involving Somali refugees and their neighbours and the Finnish authorities. There are two main characters in the film: Rashka and Farhaan. Rashka has decided to travel to Mogadishu to meet his mother, whom he has not seen for nine years. Farhaan dreams of peace and homecoming. Farhaan’s Finnish neighbours want to evict his family from their building. The climax of the film is a trial that determines the future of Farhaan and his family.
