A cruel story about prison, torture and murder. Twenty-two South African women share their personal experiences of the struggle against apartheid from the 1930s to the ‘90s. Most of them spent lengthy periods in prison. Many were subjected to torture and some even lost their children while imprisoned. Among them are women who are now ministers and members of parliament of the new South Africa. But what is this new country like?
