A giant water lily that blooms only at night grows in the middle of the city. For over a hundred years, staff at Helsinki’s botanical gardens have planted the lily from the previous year’s seeds. It is carefully tended, but daytime visitors never see the beauty of the flower. Can a lily, older than any of us, give time a meaning?
