Nine-year-old Aligermaa's life on the Mongolian steppes is dramatically changed when she leaves home to be trained by the famous horse trainer Sodnom. She is to participate in a great horse race with hundreds of children competing. But one stormy night shortly before the race Aligermaa's white stallion is attacked and seriously injured. Nothing turns out as expected.
