A documentary about being young, leaving home and figuring out life on your own. We meet 18-year-old Vilma on her last weekend in Tornio, her hometown in Lapland, situated between a river and the sea in northern Finland. Vilma has just graduated from school, and celebrates with her parents, siblings and friends, receiving the traditional unwanted advice from emotional adults. Her dream is to relocate to Helsinki, a 10-hour drive from her hometown. Goodbye Tornio is a vivid depiction of a rare moment in life when everything is about to change forever.
