Ten-year-old Carl (Jacob Levin-Christensen) and the 56-year-old janitor at Carl's school, Richard (Søren Malling) are friends. Carl is all about distance, time and the infinity of space. Richard is more pragmatic and mainly concerned with his 36 pages-long to-do-list, and the simple joy of drinking an ice-cold orange soda. They are two outsiders, who support and help each other. But Carl's mother (Laura Christensen) wants to move him to a special school more suited to his needs. After a six-week lockdown due to the Covid pandemic, during which Carl, Richard and Richard's dog, Albert, had the entire school to themselves, the time has come to say goodbye.
