The Swedish summer postcard pictures cows and calves grazing in a pasture of birch trees with a lake in the background. This open, agricultural landscape is now looked upon as quaint. The film follows daily life on a small farm. The farmer and his wife are getting older; it might be the last year they can keep their milk cows. As the year goes by we learn about the symbiosis between man and cattle.
