Twenty-eight-year-old Benjamin has been in and out of prison since he was 16. Prison is what he calls home. Trond has been convicted of violence and kidnapping but wants a different life. They both want to be transferred to Bastoy prison, on a beautiful island in the Oslo fjord with neither walls nor barbed wire. The inmates are surrounded by water, woods and wild animals. Norway is known to have the world’s most humane correctional system but the reality is that several open prisons are closing down. Will Benjamin and Trond get a chance to get their lives back on track?
