Sommai was the first Thai woman in the desolate region of Thy in Northern Denmark. She met local man Niels while she was a sex worker in Pattaya, Thailand. He was on holiday there after a failed marriage and quickly fell in love with her. She came with him to Denmark and ever since, she has helped women from her village in Thailand marry Danish men. Now another woman, her niece Kae, arrives in Denmark to find a husband. Kae moves in with Kjeld in a small village - where the two try to overcome shyness and language barriers in order for them to see if they want to face the future together.
