Human age is like the seasons; from the budding life of spring, to autumn and then on to death of old age. Life starts over again, in an unending cycle. Gustav Vigeland (1869-1943) made this the central theme for more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and wrought iron. In addition, he provided his sculptures with a frame of architecture and landscaping. The Vigeland Park in Oslo is the result of one man's work over 40 years.
