Per Fugelli (1943-2017) was a Norwegian doctor, a professor of social medicine and a forceful voice in the public sphere. He believed that the health of an individual is largely dependent on social relationships. Fugelli spent his life addressing issues of freedom and respect, campaigning for the rights of the less fortunate. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and in 2015 refused further treatment. In the final phase of his life, he challenged the taboo of death by writing about his own fatality.
