Comrade, Where Are You Today?

Comrade, Where Are You Today?

In 1988-9, a 20-year-old Finn, Kirsi Marie was in East Germany studying Marxism-Leninism at an international youth academy. The students were civil servants, freedom fighters and activists. The academy was uplifting, but real-life socialism had contradictions. The course ended only months before the Berlin Wall fell. 24 years later, Kirsi Marie travels to Germany, Bolivia, Chile, Lebanon and South Africa to meet her former fellow students. What’s left of their dreams?
