The Good Postman

A Bulgarian village on the Turkish border has resisted invaders since the Roman and Ottoman Empires. Now its electorate of 38 elderly people has a say in the future of Europe. The village was known for centuries as "the Great Gate" because of its location, and is now in the middle of the European crisis. Asylum seekers sneaking past the border, cause fear and unrest. Ivan, the postman, has a political vision. He runs for mayor, hoping to revive the dying village by welcoming refugees. His opponents want either to close their eyes or shut down the border and reintroduce communism. In the campaign, Ivan learns that the best intentions may still not be enough, but even the smallest deeds count.
