A stubborn old skipper, Bjørne, refuses to accept the demise of Norwegian sealing. With his first mate Espen he gathers a motley crew and sets out on a hazardous journey through the polar ice. Ocean, ice and bitter cold rule in this seemingly untouched corner of the world. The crew has only each other to rely on in the kingdom of polar bears and sudden storms.
