A film about the passion of the human relationship with nature. The roots of the passion are to be found in the backwoods of rural Finland. We encounter eccentrics who have devoted their lives to nature. While the wild is no longer part of ordinary people’s lives, it has become a source of personal freedom, a playground for our imagination. The filmmaker hikes through forests and across icy lakes from where he lives to where he was born. A trip that would take three to four hours by car or train takes him 27 days.
