In the outskirts of a Swedish town, behind the locked doors of a migrant detention center, twenty-five individuals are awaiting deportation. Sami, Aina and Sophie are portrayed during three summer months. Aina, 47, has been separated from her children as the police are stepping up efforts to enforce their expulsion order. Staff member Sophie, 29, loves her job, but struggles with the limits of her role as a civil servant. Sami, 20, is locked up, but free inside. Detained is an existential drama raising fundamental questions about freedom of movement and the value of life.
