Poul is heartbroken when Katarina leaves him. In despair, Poul buys an exact robot copy of Katarina. The robot is a wonder: Master-chef cooking, perfect housekeeping, sex available 24/7. The robot never complains. Poul is happy again until his mother dies and the real Katarina wants a quick divorce. Poul takes his aggression out on the robot, beating it over and over. This has a therapeutic effect. But when the real Katarina reappears in his life, Poul confuses the two. Dream and reality merge into nightmare.
